PRESENTATION

HWT is a diversified, trading company specializing in the supply of water-soluble polymers. HWT delivers essentially all of the major types of these synthetic, organic coagulants and flocculants: cationics, anionics and non-ionics and leads the industry in selling them in the broadest range of charge densities and molecular weights, and in the most complete selection of product forms: powder, emulsion, solution and gel.

HWT also custom supplies such polymers to meet specific clients’ particular application needs.

HWT trade a range of products for use in the pulp and paper industries which are fundamental to both the manufacturing of paper and the treatment of wastewater. From the highest quality printing paper to boxboard made from recycled waste paper, HWT has a product to assist the manufacturing process.

Of particular importance in the general trend to use ever greater amounts of recycled pulp to protect the forests, the use of retention aids and anionic trash collectors has played a significant role in facilitating the use of such reduced quality pulps whilst maintaining the quality of the finished paper.

The use of HWT products to improve the retention of fiber and fillers has relevance in today’s industry. Retention aids can give improved machine throughput and better utilization of water.

HWT retention aids are high performance polymers which contribute to the improvement of today’s papermaking quality. The effects of these high performance polyelectrolytes permit higher productivity and cost effectiveness.

To respond to all of the industry’s requirements, HWT products are available in a wide range of formulations cationic, anionic, high and low molecular weight, high and low charge distribution, and in solid, liquid or emulsion phases.

HWT powder retention aids offer good solubility properties and have molecular weights which do not create sheet formation problems. They cover numerous fields of applications in the paper industry, such as lower steam consumption and cleaner white water. HWT emulsions allow fast utilization in the process and show unique properties.

Paper chemicals must create affinities between fibers, fines and fillers in order to increase retention and drainage time. This is essentially a physical and colloid chemistry problem. Many chemical additives are positively charged because of the naturel anionicity at normal pH of the supplied components.

Over the last decade, one of HWT’s priorities has been developing new polymers orientated to paper applications through the understanding of the interactions of the fibers with the polymers. The technical improvement of these polymers allows a greater production of paper by increasing the machine’s speed.

Although the use of recycled fibers such as deinking pulp will give an important benefit in front of ecological problems.
HWT supplies polymers perfectly adapted for the following applications:
- retention on fibers using different fillers
- board production: fine retention and drainage
- dual retention system
- dry strength resins
- improvements in sizing
- anionic trash catchers
- deinking process
- flotation for fiber recovery
- water treatment
- sludge dewatering
